"Hey there, big dude."
Ben flopped on Austin's side, curling up comfortably like a kitten by his mother's belly. Only, Ben wasn't even certain he'd spoken to Austin before. But the Purrloin hadn't had the best luck sleeping - rather, he hadn't actually tried - and saw some things he knew Austin wouldn't appreciate, which was why he had bounded over.
He pat the Umbreon's side until he had stirred, then gestured towards the fountain. "So, how does she like it here so far?"

Austin awoke with a start and stared down at the little cat Pokémon in bewilderment. Upon Ben's question his green eyes widened. "W-What? I don't know what you're talking about!" he stammered, fidgeting, as he shuffled uncomfortably under the Purrloin.
Kimberly came toddling after her brother and wobbled to a stop between Austin's paws, balancing on her toes as if the ground was unstable underfoot. "Did you have a fun night, Austin?" she asked with an innocent smile. She reached out, and after a moment her little hand found his nose, and she patted it lightly. "You must be kinda sleepy. "Benny is, too."
"What are you two getting at!?" the Ubreon demanded, more agitated than frightened by the subtle threat."Shouldn't you be in the barn? I'll tell your parents!"
"No you won't," Kimberly said nonchalantly, plopping into a sit where she was.
"Yes, I will," he retorted shortly. He looked back at Benjamin and narrowed his eyes. "You guys need to keep your noses out of older Pokémon's business!"
There was a splash, and he turned to look at the fountain as a little blue nose poked over the side of it. Slowly the rest of the Vaporeon's head emerged, and she peered down shyly, regarding the two other Pokémon with apprehensive fascination.

Ben smiled, hooked tail swishing coolly behind him. "We're not so much as sticking our noses in as you're just..." he rolled his paw, trying to find the word, "awful at hiding it." The purple feline shrugged, giving a friendly smile and a wave to the 'eon in the fountain.
"As for telling our parents, well..." the child snickered, "I think you should be a little more worried that we don't tell yours."

The fur along the Umbreon's spine stood on end, and he looked between the little Pokémon with wide panicked eyes before looking up at the Vaporeon. "H-Hi..."
She blinked at him in reply, but her gaze was more trained on Ben. She meekly waved a little blue paw at him over the edge of the fountain before looking at Austin again, sensing his worry. She seemed to want to say something, but the sight of the little Pokémon had muted her, so, shyly, she remained with just her eyes showing over the fountain, watching in silence.

It was amazing to see the Umbreon's disposition change -- the fact that he and Kimberly were a considerable cause of it was also eye-opening. Ben hated being called a child, but he was well aware he was one, yet he felt like he had all the older adolescents right under his paw.
He placed his paws on the edge of the fountain, smiling at the Vaporeon. "You're quiet," he noted aloud.

Vaporeon glided backwards slightly from the Purrloin, but she kept his gaze all the while.
"Leave her alone, Ben," Austin commanded, flattening his ears against his skull. He looked around nervously, ever wary of other waking Pokémon. If he didn't take care of these two soon, he was going to completely lose control of the situation... or, what little control he still had of it...
