Where was he... Where was that...
Chris looked around the ranch, prowling along the grass in a trek that warned others not to approach. Maybe those two brats by the barn had stayed put, and could tell her that, as they seemed to know much more about her friends than even she did.
As she neared the ranch's home, however, she caught sight of an Umbreon by the fountain. Arceus, he was obsessed!
Throat bubbling with anger, and likely some sort of flame, she bounded towards the Umbreon, tail shot out behind her. "Austin!" she shouted as she neared him, lips curled back despite herself. "You fucking liar!"

The vicious noise startled the Umbreon nearly off of his feet. He scrambled away from the fountain, and when he saw Chris charging at him his eyes grew wide. He stumbled back a couple steps before his hind legs went out from under him, and he rolled onto his back.

She stomped over to him, her body parallel to his with her paws kneading the earth next to his head. It was a familiar stance; when they would battle or wrestle, this was often how it ended. Nothing about this was playful, though.
"You could have at least told me! If she was so fucking addictive that you just cannot control yourself... Arceus, you didn't have to lie to me! As if the gaping hole under the fence wasn't obvious enough - do you think I'm an idiot?" Heartbeats after standing there, staring down at him, the guilt began to weigh on her shoulders. He looked so... well, it was Austin. Austin was nothing like his parents.
She got off and turned her back to him, inhaling deeply.

Even after she had stepped away from from him, it took him a minute to recover from the shock. He had seen Chris charge plenty of Pokémon, and had often regarded it with amusement and sympathy for whoever was at the other end of the assault, but he had never expected to be the one charged. "I- I'm sorry," he stammered, rolling onto his stomach. "I didn't mean to-- I... I just didn't..." He trailed off, unsure of how to explain himself. What did she want to hear? He thought it would just be easier for her not to know. He didn't think she'd want to come... to be woken up most nights. But he didn't think he'd be so mad. And that certainly wasn't his intention with not telling her.

Too many emotions coursed through the slender canine than she could deal with. Just as he had never expected to be on the receiving end of Chris' aggression, she didn't think she'd ever have to... be aggressive with him.
She shook her head, biting down on her tongue to stop her from saying anything else. It didn't work. "Didn't mean to," she repeated with a snort, flashing a glance back at the Umbreon.

Austin flinched under her gaze. "Chris, I'm sorry," he said sincerely. "I'm sorry!" He didn't know what else to say. He wasn't going to say something he didn't mean; he never said he wouldn't go back. He didn't regret doing it. He wouldn't stop. But he didn't want Chris to be upset and he didn't entirely understand why she was upset. But he was afraid that asking her would make her angrier. He just wanted to assuage her, but he didn't know how.

She hated the jealousy she felt running through her veins, the way it made her fur prickle and her muscles tense. She was envious, she was scared, and that lead to little good with the hotheaded young female. All she had in her life was her family, Austin, Blitz, and maybe, but not so much, Chance. She had never had to share those she loved with anyone. Now, it was her best friend, and it was sudden, and it was as if he liked his friend more than he liked her, in the month they had known each other.
She just couldn't let it go that easily. What if he decided that his friend was more worth spending time with. What if one night he didn't come back? The rational part of her knew that he would never be able to up and leave Vivian and Angelo, but she had never pegged him the type to sneak out at night, either. That was her thing!
"Hope you two have a magical fucking life together," she muttered, breaking out into something of a half-run towards the barn and nosing her way inside.

"Chris! Chris!" he called after her, trying to catch up but losing her as she went into the barn. Like an ancient column he crumpled under the weight of his own guilt in front of the entrance to the barn. He didn't want to be in the wrong, to make Chris so angry. He loved her too much to see her like this, and he had always taken it upon himself to try to calm her down. But how could he take the bullet out of her gun when he was the one that put it there?
With a pathetic whimper he put his paw over his face and sighed. It wasn't until he felt someone approach him that he looked up, and the fact that the world had not seemed to crumble around him caught him a little off-guard. Chance was standing in front of him, looking down at him with a puzzled frown. "What are you doing? Are you hurt?"
"Chance!" he wailed, jumping up at once. "Chris is so mad at me! I don't know how to say I'm sorry! Help me, help me!"
Chance stared at him in surprise, blinking slowly to try to process what this was all about. "...Why is she mad at you? Because you've been an empty-headed sot lately?"
"Yes!... I guess so! I have not, have I?" He crumpled again to the ground and hid his face. "I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to hurt Chris' feelings..."
"Then maybe you shouldn't be sneaking around with some girl no one even knows," Chance chided. "What did you expect to happen? She's kind of a little possessive over you."
"But..." The younger -eon stared at the ground pitifully. "I just want her to not be mad at me. I didn't mean any harm...."
Chance sighed. He had too much on his mind to be worrying about this, but Austin's emotions were so intrinsically tied to his that at this point, he knew that if he didn't calm Austin down he would be dealing with the same emotion pretty damn soon. Stupid brother. Caring about people was a pain in the ass for a psychic type.
"Listen," he muttered, resigned. "I'll talk to her. Maybe at the very least she'll be mad at me instead of you, and you can top being such a pitiful shit. No promises though. In the meantime get your shit together."
"Really?" Autin looked at him hopefully. "Thanks, Chance. You're the best, I owe you."
"Yeah, you owe me a lot," he grumbled. "Where is she?"
Autin nodded to the barn, and, tail twitching, Chance headed inside. Of course she would be mulling around in the dark in the middle of the day. Dark types. What a pain in the ass for him.

Chris had slipped into her nest, comforted by the familiar bits of hay she had grown up nestled in. She was not all that calm, though. Her thick, white claws were busy kneading her bedding, her tail beating against the ground and her ears flattened against her skull. She shouldn't have said that last bit. She didn't want Austin out of her life. She just... she wasn't good at sharing, especially Austin, and especially with girls. Chance was Austin's brother, she couldn't stop that, but...
Not many other Pokémon were in the barn at this time of day, and it was an isolation she welcomed. Too caught up in her thoughts, she didn't take note of the Espeon's scent or the barn doors creaking open. She was feral.

The Espeon's fur started to prickle as he entered the barn, immediately picking up on Chris' energy. The things I do for that kid, he thought, slowly approaching the hostile canine. He wondered if other brothers had to deal with this shit. Hell, he wasn't even Austin's brother by blood. How did he end up with this shit? Because Austin was stupider than he led on, that's why.
He stopped a safe distance back from the dark type and dropped into a crouch, trying to meet her eyes. "Chris," he said, a gruffly, though his irritation was not aimed at her.

Because her senses had been so occupied by her rage, she did not pick up on Chance's presence until he grunted her name. It startled her, so she whirled towards him, only a hair away from catching his snout with her fangs.
Though she had not bit him, she was fairly close, and it took the canine a few ragged breaths to realise it. She leaned her head back and exhaled, eyes shut as she tried to find some sort of tranquility. It was what Uncle Chase was always teaching her. He wasn't as smart as Brooke or Erol, but in exchange, he was a hell of a lot nicer... and much more calm.
After a few heartbeats, she blinked open her crimson-amber eyes, and replied with a throat, "What."

The Espeon recoiled as she snapped at him, but not as far as one would expect; she was volatile enough that he was paying close attention, and so he had known that she would come up short. "I just want to talk to you," he said, his voice a little less anitisocial. "I mean, Arceus you're upset at Austin. I'd like to know why."

She narrowed her eyes. "You know why, don't you?" Kimberly had said something... something about not knowing if Chance knew or not. Did he know Austin was still seeing that bloody asshole friend of his? But if he did, he should know why she was upset with him. She hated to think her friend would go behind her back like that, because then what would her enemies be like?

"I know you're mad at Austin," Chris said, languid. He rubbed his eyes with his paw; Chris' emotions were giving him a headache. He had an awful feeling he was getting more sensitive to this kind of stuff. Fantastic. "He's been sneaking around with a girl from the lake. Why are you this upset about it?"

"Why should I tell you?" She sat up to gain some composure against the Espeon, raising her head and staring into his eyes, unblinking. "You'll call me a baby." It wasn't a whine, or a whimper, simply stated as fact. "Anyway, you're only asking me so that your brother will pull his tail out between his legs, and he knows why I'm not happy with him. Why didn't you ask him."
