"Feel better now?" she asked softly, swishing her tail. "You can take more than one. The kid has more than she knows what to do with."

The Umbreon shook his head. ("I can eat in the morning,") he insisted, leaping up onto Ellie's bed and pacing in circles before curling up by her feet. ("I'm exhausted. Why don't you find someplace to sleep and try not to destroy all the furniture?") Angelo inquired, half kidding and half not.
He'd been there to witness what EV's claws could do... and it wasn't pretty.

She smiled slyly. "I'll do my best." With that she turned, trotting to the futon and lying down on the floor below it. It was not comfortable, but comfort had never been something that the dog Pokémon had aimed for. She closed her eyes, trying to convince herself that she was tired, and sighed.

Angelo watched from the corner of his scarlet eyes as the eeveelution tried to make herself comfortable on the floor under the futon. He frowned and blinked, raising his head. ("Now that's just silly. Why don't you come lay here?") he inquired, patting the space on the other side of Ellie's slumbering form. ("You've known Ellie for as long as you've known me; she doesn't bite.")

Her eyes opened, glowing dimly in the dark. She was silent, deliberating for a minute, and then she slowly stood and climbed onto the bed. With less grace than her companion she laid down where he had indicated, and closed her eyes. "...I had forgotten how soft these things were," she admitted after a moment, enjoying the softness of the bed in its entirety.

("Yeah, they're pretty comfortable,") the Umbreon agreed, his sentence interrupted by a long yawn. For the first time in what felt like eons, the Dark Type was able to melt into the blanket with a partially filled stomach. He tucked his paws by his chest, shutting his crimson eyes as sleep welcomed him with open arms.

EV watched him with half-lidded eyes, a question gnawing at her mind relentlessly. "You got pretty pissed when you thought Chance was mine," she finally murmured, her voice heavy and groggy. She couldn't help it. It would not let her rest. She just wanted to know why he had gotten so angry, why that childish look of jealousy had flashed in his eyes.

Just as he was about to swoop into a deep sleep, his companion's voice rang in his ears. His whole body stiffened and the fur on his neck began to prickle nervously. What was he supposed to say? Confess that he'd gotten jealous at the idea of another Pokémon claiming EV like that? Angelo swallowed his saliva shakily, clearing his throat quietly. ("I just didn't like the idea of meeting you again to find out you already had a kid. It would have made the period that we hadn't seen each other seem longer, and you're my... friend. I missed you.") He tucked his head further into the sheets in embarrassment, readying himself for her to blow up at him. He'd only hesitated on using 'friend' in his vocabulary simply because he didn't know if it was a word EV would take so easily.

"A friend." She repeated the phrase monotonously. She closed her eyes, and the room grew a little darker. Despite how hard she tried, she could not think of anything smart or sarcastic with witch to retort. She was not sure if 'friend' was the word that the Umbreon should be using, but she was not about to try to come up for a better word for that either. "I guess I missed you, too," she replied instead, wrapping her tail around her paws self consciously. Damn. I'm going soft.

Angelo flattened his ears as she repeated his friend statement. Lucky for him, she didn't sound pissed... but she didn't sound exactly joyful either. He shifted his head a little to peek at her from the corner of his eye. She was still for a few heartbeats, his heart pumping ins his ears as she mumbled something about supposedly missing him too.
That surprised him the most that night. She hadn't forgotten him as soon as he was out of sight? Not only that, but she'd longed to see him again? That was the point of 'missing' someone right? The want to see them again? All these new questions and concerns bubbled in his mind, not to mention the warm feeling that had spread across his cheeks. He wasn't going to sleep anymore.

"...So why were you jealous?" she murmured, her eyes still closed. As much as she had wanted the question to sound taunting, it had not at all had the desired effect. She wondered what his face looked like, but she did not dare open her eyes and meet his.

Angelo's muscles tensed. How had she been able to tell?! The Umbreon could think of no excuse for this one, so instead tried playing it stupid. ("M-Me? Jealous? Wh-What are you talking about,") he defended himself, trying to sound offended. But would sounding offended accidentally be offensive towards her? He couldn't tell what was going on through her head even if he tried. He couldn't help his stuttering -- like his master, he'd never been good under pressure. Especially with questions like these.

"You're a bad liar, Angelo," she growled, but even as she spoke she suddenly wondered if she really wanted to know. She grew silent after that, waiting for him to respond. Her heart thrummed with anticipation. What would he come up with now? What had even set her on this course of questioning anyway. Oh yeah. She wasn't actually tired.

Angelo's fur began to bristle slowly. What, was he supposed to flat out tell the truth? She could obviously detect the lies spilling out of his mouth. But he knew that if he did, the relationship between them would become awkward... more so than it already was. And he knew EV would tell every soul she could what he had said. The Umbreon wasn't looking forward to eternal torture. But what else could he do? He knew by this point how stubborn she could be.
("Well, what do you want me to say?") he snapped back, trying his hardest to avoid answering. One thing he could always remember his father telling him was the best way to avoid questions was by asking another question. It was time to put his father's method into action.

EV started at the tone of his voice, and her eyes opened halfway, regarding him with narrow eyes. She wasn't sure how she wanted to answer that.
"Fine," she said dismissively, turning your back to him. Her eyes closed again, and she was done. It was probably better she had never asked any of those questions anyway.
