Austin slowed a he approached her, not wanting to startle her awake. "Chris," he murmured, gently nosing her shoulder.
Chance stood back just a step, silently waiting.

Chris mumbled something incoherent as she was nudged, desperate to stay asleep. The gesture was enough to reawaken her consciousness, at least, and she realised where she was. Her eyes fluttered open and she blinked at the two -eons standing above her.
"Oh, are you done?" she said flatly, getting to her paws. "Good." She turned around, evaluating the fence with her sleep-induced gaze. She bunched up her muscles, and, wiggling her haunches, sprung up and over the fence, landing silently on the other side.

While Chance could only regard the leap with an impressed stare, Austin's frown just deepened. His ears flattened against his head and he looked back at Chance, who promptly teleported them to the other side of the fence. There were plenty of things on the tip of his tongue that Austin wanted to say, but he was afraid that the wrong thing would only make his friend madder, and so he shrunk away from her a little bit a if being too close to her would hock him.

She kept ahead of the duo, her eyes set on her destination. The canine slunk through the grass, suddenly not as interested in what Austin had to say. She wasn't mad though... maybe she was just tired. She was generally more of a night owl, but it was too much action, too suddenly, in too little time.
The Houndyena cast a glance over her shoulder as she slipped inside.

Chance watched Austin visibly shrink as the distance between them and Chris lengthened. He lightly shouldered the younger -eon. "Chin up. She's probably tired. We all need to sleep, and then talk to her tomorrow."
"I didn't mean to make her mad at me," he whimpered, lowering his eyes.
Chance was silent; the first things that came to mind would be no comfort to his brother. Chris' insecurity was his fault, but the fact that they had sneaked out to meet a Pokémon Austin didn't even know was. And he could have at least not ignored them when he was there. "Just talk to her tomorrow, Austin. She can't stay mad at her for too long. You're her closest friend."
"But... she can stay mad at me," Austin murmured. He lifted his head to regard Chance thoughtfully. "And he could always switch to you."
Switch to me? Chance didn't know how to take that. Chris didn't seem like the type to start hanging all over him just to spite Austin. And she wouldn't let him anyway. He wasn't sure where Austin got the idea that such a thought would even cross her mind. Sure, they were... not taking physical shots at each other as much, but he couldn't see them ever being buddy-buddy. He didn't want that. Of course, he hardly knew what he wanted from the mutant, but friendship certainly wasn't the word that came to mind.
The two entered the barn in silence, and as Austin's rings and eyes faded Chance completely lost sight of him. The two carefully picked their way through the barn and found their spots near Vivian and Angelo again, where they laid down. And despite his natural ability to pick up Austin's troubled thoughts- a usually unpleasant side effect of being so close to Austin and also a psychic type -the Espeon was able to fall asleep pretty quickly. Austin laid awake for mot of the night, however, mulling over everything that happened that night- both the good and the bad.
