Kiabe put her hands on her hips and looked skyward thoughtfully. "I don't know. Are you guys going to be doing anything that involves adult clearance?" she asked.
Tunes looked at the older girl with a puzzled smile. "I don't think we had planned on it," she chuckled.
"Then I'll see you guys later. My Aipom ran off with my cap and I need to find him before it's lost forever."
Tunes laughed a bit. "Okay."
Kiabe hugged Tunes- an awkward endeavor given the guitar -and then hopped back. "Good seeing you again, squirt. Good meeting you, too, boys!" She waved at them, and then turned and started down the block, pulling out a Pokéball as she did so.
Tunes watched her go and shook her head, an amused smile on her face. Then she turned back to the twins. "Okay... So, what do we want to do now?"
Note looked over his shoulder as they rounded the street corner and then put his hands behind his head, peering at the sky through his dark sunglasses. "Notey." He scoffed, an amused smile creeping across his face. "Nobody's called me that since I was six."

As Kiabe wandered off, Milo waved and then turned to Emily. "Well, I'd like to sight see a bit if that's alright," he responded, double-taking at Kiabe's disappearing figure before turning back to admiring the city. Zane cocked a brow at his brother, then sipped his Cola. "Are there any places to train our Pokémon? I wouldn't mind showing you my new team," he grinned mischievously.
Ellie snapped back to reality when she heard Note's voice. "Oh, hum, yes? Who called you 'Notey' when you were little?" She'd have to take back what she'd thought if his parents or someone dear to him had called him Notey before.

Tunes looked between the two thoughtfully. "Well," she said, "we can sight see on our way to the arena. It's in the oldest part of the city, so we'll pass lots of sights on the way there."
"She did," he replied, matter-of-factly. "Actually, Kiabe was the one who came up with both mine and Emily's nickname. It's part of the reason I don't try to correct her; I have her to thank for it."

Milo clapped his hands together. "Excellent," he grinned giddily. Zane rolled his eyes at his brother and pat him on the back a few times, much to his younger brother's confusion. Turning back to Emily, he nodded his head. "Lead the way."
"Oh," Ellie returned lamely. Well, no point holding grudges now; she might as well try and learn something. "Any idea why she decided to call you guys 'Note' and 'Tunes'? I like 'em, but where'd they come from?"

Tunes smiled and turned, leading them off Explose Ave. and down a couple of blocks. "We kind of have to walk through the ghetto to get there," she warned them. "Well... Not the ghetto... but we leave the main tourist district."
"Well, she started calling us that when we started singing," he replied. "She was the first one to listen to us, and we were so shy as kids that nobody would give us a chance if you told anyone that Eli and Emily were singing on the block. So she started telling people that these cool kids named Note and Tunes were starting a band, and that worked. It just kind of stuck after that."

Milo stiffened a little bit, but Zane's smile just grew. "Ha, I knew this place had one. Let's get goin' then," the male tucked his hands into his pockets. His twin swallowed a lump in his throat, but Zane knew Milo would try to brave it out, but after those dipshits in their neighborhood when they were little bullied him in an alleyway, he'd always been rather skittish around the darker looking places. Milo's life had never been on the line, seeing as how they were only 12-13, and the kids had only been there to tease him but it had gotten out of hand. If Zane hadn't shown up with reinforcements, though, it's hard to say Milo wouldn't have escaped without a few bruises or scrapes.
"That's cool," the blonde grinned. "I'd thought your name had come from like, an important note or a scribble on a piece of paper. I guess 'cause I'd never heard you sing before," she smiled, eyes glistening.

"This town's got a pretty wicked one," Tunes muttered flattly. She added, more upbeat, "But we can steer around it."
Note smiled at her bashfully. "Yeah... I didn't sing for a while. And Emily never had her own guitar until about a year ago."

"No, it's fine. We can cut through it," Zane smirked, raising his brows. "'Less you're scared?" He would have taken this time to poke some fun at his younger brother, but this was just one of the things he was respectful enough to stay away from with him. But, he knew for a fact Milo felt safer with him, so that made up for cruising through the ghetto.
"How come you stopped singing? You had a nice voice." She cocked her head a little, before noticing that the buildings were beginning to turn into houses and apartments more. "Is your condo somewhere around here?" she inquired.

"I'm not scared," she replied nonchalantly. "Do you want to go through it?" She looked at the two with a raised brow. Her fear of the ghetto was something she had overcome within the last three years through a series of complicated events and a refresher course in the self defense she had learned as a child. But now she was noticing the uneasiness on Milo's face. It really was no trouble to go around, but she wasn't sure if Zane was serious about going through or not.
Note bit his lip, choosing to momentarily ignore the first question to answer the second. "Yeah, the condo is right on the edge of a college campus. It was a good deal, and just outside the tourist district, which I like."

"Don't you like a little danger? This place seems so... safe," he observed, his eyes scanning around the scene before him. "Too many smiling faces," he said, wiggling his eyebrows. Milo chuckled nervously beside him. "I'm fine, as long as there's some notable culture..." Well, that wasn't a complete lie.
Ellie looked along the houses as they passed, most of her attention on Note, however. "There's a college around here? Heh, when the boys are done with school, I can just toss them in here then! Less trouble for me," she giggled.

Tunes pursed her lips in thought. "Well, we could," she mused, coming to a slow stop on a street corner. They could take a left turn and bypass the bad streets, or they could keep going straight. On the next block, which they could see from where they stood, the sidewalk and quality of the buildings started to visibly deteriorate. The people who were happily swarming the blocks were all gone two blocks down.
Note smiled a bit. "Yeah. Sloking University. It's a pretty good one. I was thinking of settling down here for a couple years myself actually." He used the term very loosely. While he had given it some thought, he couldn't see himself actually going there. It was a great school, but he had always been a bit of a busybody. Still, it was an option.
He gestured for Ellie to follow him as he veered off the main road and down the brick path.

Zane stopped by Tunes, hands still in his pocket and an indifferent look imprinted on his face. "So, which way are we taking?" he inquired. He wanted to go in the ghetto, and Milo did not. It was up to Tunes, and both would be alright with whatever way she chose to go.
"Sloking University? That's a funny Pokémon they chose for it, but I can see why. Unless, of course, the idea came from some personal experience and I'm just blabberin'. From Slowpoke, an (excuse me), dumbass, to Slowbro, a dipshit, and then to a Pokémon who's intelligent enough to speak English. That's dandy."

Tunes looked back at them again, and then at the street. She huffed, and then, clutching her guitar, she started straight across the street, through the ghetto.
"I thought it was clever," Note chuckled as he led her up the stairs. He stopped in front of their condo and pulled out his key. "Our Pokémon are kind of everywhere. Just so you know."

Milo glanced worriedly at Zane, but his brother had already taken too many steps ahead to catch his look. The orange-clad twin quickly scurried after the shorter male, content with living on the fact that with his brother, he'd be safe. For the love of Arceus, he even had his Pokémon with him! He'd be fine...
"I'm fine with that," she shrugged carelessly, then putting her hand on her Pokéball-belt. "I'd like to show you my new team some time, by the way."

Tunes glanced back at the twins before looking ahead again. She looked around warily. It had been a long, long time since she had walked down this block; she didn't have good memories of it. But compared to some other things she had been through, it didn't seem like a lot anymore. Still, she couldn't help but keep one hand clutch to her guitar case.
"I'd like to see it," Note replied with a smile. He opened the door and walked inside.
As it had been when Tunes and the twins had left, the room was cool and quiet; Firecracker was camped out on the couch while cracked doors alluded to other Pokémon in all the rooms. Note pulled off his sunglasses and put them on the end table as he petted the Manectric's head. Her short tail wiggled as she saw the two humans.
