Solitaire raised his head, pride swelling through him. Though Don hadn't said anything, he could tell by his older friend's enthusiasm the the idea pleased him. The Houndour triumphantly padded over to some other boxes and began to yank them towards the box that Donetello had started to fill up and began to place smaller Pokémon into that box. He was sure being piled into a box like a bunch of stuffed animals was far from pleasurable, but if any of them complained when they awoke, he'd assure them that it was better than being engulfed by flames.
As he was walking to collect Pokémon, he tripped over the body of a small Poochyena. It reminded him of Nikki and that made his heart clench. He grabbed the wolf Pokémon gently by his scruff and put him into the box. He had to pick up the pace if he wanted more Pokémon to survive.
Flora began to head down the stairs since the room that they were on had began to fill with smoke. She rushed past Don and his strange friend and towards the exit, only to hear the childish Houndour friend call after her, "Come back when you find a place to put the human! We have a job for you!"
Zane was walking with his brother, his Sneasel, Asher, placed on his shoulder. He was conversing with his twin brother, Milo, when an urgent-expressed Pidgey came flying down in their direction, chirping and dancing. Milo recoiled, hugging his Teddiursa protectively in his arms.
The red-clothed brother cocked his head to the side and squatted down. He gently took the papers from his beak and looked them over. His olive green eyes widened. "Whoa... Milo, someone got shot at the Radio Tower. We have to go, come on!" he shouted urgently, tugging on his brother's hesitant wrist.
Fear sparkled in his brother's eyes so Zane quietly added, "Milo, there are innocent Pokémon dying and someone was shot. We could be heroes!"
Zane looked back at the Pidgey. "Lead the way."

"Vivian!" Don snapped, irritated by his teammates idleness.
"Alright, alright," she muttered, resigned. She started forward and began throwing fainted Pokémon into the boxes roughly. What did they care if they landed on their head? They couldn't feel it. At least they would get out alive... not like the Nidokings and -queens that were lying about, or the other larger Pokémon. Then again she didn't doubt that Donetello would try to save them too, though she did not care to think about how.
Tunes coughed loudly as they tried to outrun the billowing smoke that was starting to consume the floors one by one. She looked down worriedly at Note. Would he even be breathing when they got to the bottom? How much time did he really have left?
Aviator let out an excited cry before flying into the sky. He flew down the path before circling around to wait for the boys. They had only a half mile to go, but unless the boys were running that still may be too much time. He cried out hurriedly, egging the twins onward.

Flora busted through the door, inhaling the sweet, fresh air. She began to rush towards Ellie's condominium. It would be the safest place for Note to rest until help came. She opened the door using one of her vines, and laid the young teenager in her bed. She grabbed bandages from the drawer that had occupied Ellie's medicine and wrapped it around his wound. Maybe... Maybe they didn't need a Pokémon to heal him... but a Pokémon.
Zane and Milo chased after the Pidgey, their sneakers thundering against the ground. Zane felt sweat dribbling down his face as the Pidgey picked up its pace. He followed suit. Milo panted but wouldn't let himself fall behind either. There were people who needed them!

Tunes colapsed at the side of the bed, her eyes fixed on her brother. As Flora wrapped the wound she took its hand, noticing how disturbingly cold it was. Biting her lip, she waited until the Maganium had finished before she leaned foreward, lightly pressing her ear to his chest. Her blood ran cold.
Note was not breathing. And his heart was still.
Aviator slowed as the building came into view. The bird Pokémon was shocked at how fast it had gone up in flames. His heart thrummed in his chest, shaking his hollow bones: was everyone out okay? Where were Tunes and Note and Ellie?
His mission completed, he flew into one of the windowz and was buffeted back by the heat and smoke. It was too strong for him; if he went in, he would probably faint. That was the third floor. Had the fire yet spread to the lower levels yet?

Ellie noticed how pale Tunes had turned. "I-Is he...?" she whimpered. She prayed that he was fine and that after this, everything would be dandy and fine like it had always been before. She placed her hand on his chest gently, her fingers brushing against the bandages. Why him..?
Zane gulped, recoiling at the burning building. He grabbed his paralyzed brother's shoulder and shook him lightly. "We need Otto," he pressured, olive eyes wide. Milo's hands were shaking and Zane had to reach and take the Pokéball from his belt himself. In a beam of light, a Croconaw formed.
Otto looked over his shoulder, confused that it was his trainer's brother who had sent him out. But one look at Milo told him everything. The Croconaw turned his attention back to the burning building. "Otto," Milo murmured, finally regaining himself. "You... you have to try to put out that fire," he ordered gently, his deep navy eyes. Otto looked uncertain, as if he had doubts that the task could be pulled. Milo swallowed his fear and quietly stuttered, "There are Pokémon dying in there."
Otto didn't have to give it a second thought. The Croconaw bolted into the burning building, running up the levels until he reached a group of Pokémon tossing Pokémon in boxes. "Freeze, Rockets!" The young Pokémon shouted, jumping in front of the boxes and Fire Pokémon.

Tunes nodded robotically, shock numbing her mind completely. She slowly drew herself up, staring woefully down at her brother's body. This wasn't happening. She had to have been mistaking. He was just slseping, or playing a trick on her. But he wasn't... No. He couldn't be. Not Note.
EV's head shot up as the Pokémon entered the room. "Oh, great, look at this joke," she muttered.
Donetello looked up more slowly. His eyes widened as he recognkzed the Pokémon as a water type, and he felt hope swell in his chest once again.

Ellie had to see for herself. Not that she didn't trust Tunes, but just the prospect of Note being gone... was unreal. She rested her ear against his chest. She shuddered, feeling nothing but cold flesh. "No..."
Otto's brow furrowed at the mutant before him and he looked around in confusion. "I'm sorry... am I mistaken?" The Houndoom looked excited by his presence, not defensive.
Solitaire blinked, his ear twitching. "Hey, sweetheart," he barked at the Croconaw, his stubby tail flicked. "Introductions later; fire first."
Otto frowned. The Houndour had a point, but the way he addressed it was not in a way he fancied. Bubbling up, he sent multiple water attacks on the fires, putting out the flames bit by bit.

Tunes' head dropped, and her body shook as she finally bwgan to cry. A torrent of tears streamed from her face uncontrollably, and her body rocked with despair. She sunk to the side of the bed, her head resting on her arms as she wept bitterly.
Her pocket shook and Lemondrop squeezed through her arms . The thick-skinned little Pikachu could not stand this. She looked at her trainer desperately, and then at Note. Lemondrop had never liked the blonde boy, but seeing him like this... and Tunes loved him so much. She went to her trainer, patting her head gently. "Pika pika," her tiny voice murmured comfortingly. But she knew it was not enough. Lemondrop took a step back, her ears drooping remorsefully, and she turned back to Note.
Donetello dipped his head gratefully as he watched the flamed sizzle out bit by bit. He turned to onw of the boxes that was as full as it could be without crushing the Pokémon inside. Determined, he grabbed the edge of the box and began dragging it out of the room.

Otto finally figured these Pokémon were saving the others, not readying them for death. He put out the fire on that level, moving up another. The top floor was scorched in flames. This would prove more difficult than the previous level. Bustling up all the energy he had left, he let out a redundant torrent of water, spurting out of his mouth and gushing up the sizzling flames.
Solitaire got behind the box that Don was dragging and began to push it with the top of his head, aiding his friend. He only pushed it so far before turning back to lay more unconscious Pokémon in the other boxes. After a while, it was only bigger Pokémon on that floor. "Hey, Don," he barked, curling his nose. "What do we do with these lugs?"
Ellie sobbed. "Note," she cried, repeating his name over and over in an endearing and hurt tone. How could he be gone? How could she have dragged him into this... She'd never forgive herself.

EV was dragging another box after them, moving a bit slower but steadily. "Can't drag them down the stairs," she muttered, looking up at the Houndoom.
Donetello looked up at her uncertainly. He could think of no way to save the others. He turned uneasily back to the task of getting the box dlout of the burning building.
Lemondrop turned to Tunes and pushed her forehead, trying to move her. "Pika pikachu!" She said excitedly.
Tunes raised her tear-soaked face to look blankly at the tiny Pokémon. Lemondrop jumped back on Note's chest, her cheeks sparking, and zapped the boy.
"Lemondrop!" Tunes cried in horror, shocked and confused.

"Say, uhh... Don, Fluffy, do you have any hmm... large Pokémon on your Team that could carry them down? And where's that green dinosaur thing?" he almost growled, frustrated with the female's tardiness. Solitaire went back to the box of Pokémon and nosed it next to the other box. "She better show up," he huffed.
After a few merciless minutes, no longer was anything in flames. Otto sat on the ground, panting. What a rush! Maybe the Pokémon downstairs needed his help... The blue crocodile jumped to his feet and quickly joined the other Pokémon downstairs. "Alright, the fire upstairs is out... I think we're good for now. There wasn't too much damage, but trust me when I say a lot of furniture up there is nothing more than ashes now," he sighed, feeling like a failure for not being able to completely save the building.
Ellie's eyes widened. What... What was Lemondrop doing? "Wh-What's she doing?" she fretted, her pale blue eyes widening.

Donetello cursed under his breath. "Elliot is in his Pokéball..." He began pulling the box down the stairs as smothly as he could. EV followed him silently.
"Just shut up and help us!" EV snapped, struggling with keeping her box from turning over as she pulled it down the stairs.
Lemondrop frowned and ahocked him again. Static leapt from his arma, burning his fingertips slightly as it left his body.
"Lemondrop! No!" Tunes cried, reaching cor the Pikachu. She danced Way from her trainer's hand, looking at her determindely. Yunes was utterly confused. She knew that Lemondrop had never liked Note, but... what in the world was she doing now!?
Lemondrop shocked Note again, and as the electricity stopped circulating through the Pokémon and boy Tunes jumped forward and swatted the Pikachu away. She flew from the bed with a startled squeak anc landed on the floor, stunned. Tunes watched her fall, vlaring at her bitterly, but she turned around sharply when she heard someone suck in a breath.
She watched in disbelief as Note's chest rose and fall, alebeit unevenly. But he was breathing. He was alive.

"Bummer," Solitaire shrugged. He was no longer too concerned, considering the building was no longer burning thanks to the stranger.
Otto blinked in surprise. "R-Right," he fumbled, blinking awkwardly. Something told him not to argue with the fiery tempered female. "My name is Otto, by the way," he smiled genuinely, but a little nervously at the, what-appeared-to-be Flareon mix.
Ellie watched as Tunes swatted the Pikachu away. Lemondrop avoided the hand defiantly. Wait a minute... She was about to open her mouth when the tiny Pokémon landed on the ground and Note began to breath again. She felt her heart burst. She reached for the electric Pokémon and cupped her in the palm of her hands. She kissed the little creature on the cheek. She'd saved her best friend... she owed the Pokémon big time.

Donetello made a face at Solitaire, but seeing as the building was no longer on fire, it lacked most of its strength. "Donetello," he introduced himself to the Croconaw. He turned back to the task of trying to get the box down the stairs in one piece. Going down the stairs backwards he noticed that Vivian was growing fatigued. He eyed her warily as she pulled her box roughly down after him. Was she injured? He could not tell. He could not see any large wounds on her; scratches perhaps, but nothing too serious.
"Help me," she growled flattly, speaking to Otto without looking at him. He could tell by the sound of her voice that she was trying hard to hide what he had suspected.
Lemondrop, still a bit stunned by being tossed across the room, started a little as Ellie scooped her up, but she accepted the kiss awkwardly. From the blonde's hands she looked down, a bit surprised with herself that her idea had worked. Who knew she would make such a good defibrillator!
Tunes let out a soft cry of exuberance at the sight of her brother breathing, and she looked at Lemondrop in admiration. "Oh Lemondrop, I'm so sorry! You did it!"
The little Pikachu flicked her ear and jumped from Ellie's hands, landing on the bed. Tunes picked her up, too happy for words, and stroked her head, and Lemondrop beamed at her trainer's approval.

Solitaire blinked as Don said his name, confused for a moment before realizing he was introducing himself to the Croconaw who had saved the burning building. Straightening his posture and puffing out his narrow chest, the Houndour raised his head regally. "Solitaire's the name," he announced before following his older friend's gaze to Vivian. What was he thinking? "What are you looking at?" the dark canine butted in, wiggling his eyebrows at the Houndoom. "This is a weird time to be interested in the weirdest of Pokémon," he whispered.
Otto nodded frantically and began to help her push the box. Otto was strong for his age and species. But this lady looked strong; she certainly had an attitude to support it. Why would she need his help? "And you are?" he mused, trying to strike up conversation while helping her push the crate of wounded.
Ellie stared down in awe at the blond haired boy. "Is that it? Is he healthy? Or should we go out and find medicine now that Team Rocket has cleared the streets?" she pondered out loud, looking for another voice of judgement, which at this time would only be Tunes'. Tunes maybe younger than her, but she definitely proved herself to be intelligent and wise.
