Eliza jolted, looking to the short-haired girl. "Oh, yeah, absolutely! I... I was just a little worried there for a second..." she confessed, glancing back at Kitto before beginning to shift through the foliage. "Come on, Kit!"
The striped vulpix noticed his girl beginning to shuffle away, and at her call, began to spring off after her.
"Can you help lead us out?" she asked, brows creased back hopelessly. For the most part, Eliza knew the way. She'd done it before, it really wasn't all that hard. But she trusted Kitto's keen sense of smell over her intuition. Rustboro was a bustling city, and at its heart was the Devon Corporation. Her partner would have a slight advantage, picking up on the factory fumes faster than she.
Kitto, in return, yipped confidently and took the lead.
"So, uh... you guys been to Rustboro yet? It's pretty cool," the blonde asked, though she kept her stare on Kitto as they moved.

"We went there once as kids," Yejide replied. She still couldn't shake the fear of being followed by a Pokémon that wouldn't contain itself for long. "But that does not leave a lot to remember."
"It's big," Ebele added. "I remember that." The girls had always lived in small towns- the kinds were everyone could know each other if they had to, and you could walk the length of them down a main road in a day. While those places now felt a little clausterphobic at times, big cities weren't quite her cup of tea either. But after the night they had, anything would be better than the forest. And her memories of Rustboro were vague, but pleasant. She had no worries about the city.

Kitto let out a sharp bark, and Eliza's skin was washed over in relief. She rounded the bend, and the glimmer of light that was the Petalburg Woods exit was right within her reach. Her hybrid Pokémon charged full speed ahead, tails waggling.
"Well, it's time to take your second look, 'cause we're out of here. Rustburo's only a small way after the flower shop and bridge." She pointed to the small house that was coming up to their left, as her feet his the solid path again. Honestly, Eliza kind of liked the idea that she was getting to play tour guide for someone. When she started her journey, she had been so fresh out of Johto, so hopelessly lost to most things Hoenn... she had come quite a way from that.

Huff and Puff perked up as the exit of the forest appeared, and with a delighted yip Puff bounded forward. His nose took him to the flower pots outside the shop, and his face was soon buried in a thick bushel of flowers.
Ebele giggled and gave him a gentle nudge with her foot. "I don't think Eliza planned on stopping," she cooed. Although, she couldn't say she would have been against the idea if the shop was open. But they were traveling through the wee hours of the morning; it was barely light out. There would be no shopping tonight.
With a grunt Puff pulled his head out of the flowers and shook himself off. Pollen still stuck to his face, but it didn't muddle a wide grin. He trotted after Ebele as she followed the blonde.
Yejide chuckled and glanced down to make sure that Huff was still at her side. "So," she said, turning back to Eliza, "what brings you to Rustboro?"

Eliza stopped fleetingly to watch the vulpix, but her mind was set on getting to Rustboro. Kitto stopped momentarily to watch his brothers before turning on his heel and bounding after Liz until he had again reached her side.
"Oh, um..." she began to respond, a tad delayed, "well, I guess... I'm on my Pokémon Journey, y'know? A kind of coming of age thing... My family's from Kantō, but we live in Johto right now, so I've seen a lot of both regions traveling between my grandparents and home. That, and my mom had a lot of meetings when I was a kid, so we traveled around quite a bit. Kind of decided one day I wanted to see more of the world, so I took Kitto, Cameron and a ferry to Slateport. Been on foot ever since."
"How about you guys?"

Yejide smiled. Although the girl emanated a bit more confidence than she felt, it seemed that they were in the same boat. "Basically the same thing, actually," she replied.
Before she could elaborate, her sister filled in the blanks. "Actually, we've been traveling around Hoenn for a little while. We went north first, and then came back around the mountain... We skipped Rustboro because we wanted to stay more rural." That hadn't exactly been the plan at the time, but it wasn't a lie in retrospect. They had just retraced their steps instead of going somewhere new, until they got south. And now they were here. It was far more complicated than continuing their course would have been, but no harm was done.

"Oh, cool!" Eliza beamed. Honestly, she felt hadn't seen too many adventurers yet in her travels. Hoenn was overall a pretty peaceful region... granted she had seen maybe one fourth of it so far.
"So... you've been to Lavaridge Town?" The blonde bit down on her lip, curling tresses of hair around her finger. "I've been really pining to go to that hot spring. But Mauville, too, honestly..." Hoenn was really different from Kantō and Johto. There was even a city made in the treetops... oh, what was it called?

The girls laughed and nodded. "We've been Lavaridge!" Ebele chirped. "It's so nice. We stayed the night just so we could have the hot springs to ourselves."
"I'm glad we did, it's a long way to Fallarbor Town," Yejide added, her smile turning wistful. Their trip their had been quite... eventful, to say the least. Looking back, she didn't think they would have made it if they hadn't taken the time to rest in Lavaridge. Their Pokémon had been fine- and that's why they almost kept going -but the heat and the difficulty of the trek would have done them in if they hadn't taken the night to rest, relax, and get some advice from the locals. Laveridge Town was the kind of place that felt like home as soon as you walked in. At least it did to them. It was so comfortable, it had definitely played a part in their deciding to go back north after Fallarbor Town.
"Mauville is on the way, if you really want to go north," she added poignantly. "We didn't really take our time in Mauville. It's huge."
"We didn't know where to start," Ebelle explained.
