"Yeah, well, she wouldn't threaten me like that!" the cub protested. "How can you say those things to someone you love? I-It sounds like you don't care at all! Why did you come and get me if all you were going to do is just tell me..." Overwhelmed and upset, the cub made a bee-line towards the barn with her head down. Once instead, she dived into a pile of hay, which was easy to blend into with her fur tone.

Vivian wasn't about to go after her. Her head was still spinning, and her legs felt heavy. She turned away from the cub and her mate and marched away, her eyes narrowed, bitter, and far away.
