Angelo frowned and gently placed a paw on her back, beginning to rub in circles, a gesture he couldn't tell would be appreciated or not. He let her lean into him and did his best to support her, glancing down at the water stone through crimson slits. Stupid rock.
Chris padded next to Austin, stopping some paces behind her father. Noticing the sopping condition of Vivian, she flattened her ears and rounded about to Don's side, watching Austin hurry over to his parents. Angelo said nothing, but acknowledged his son with a look before comfortingly drawing his tongue across Viv's brow.
The Houndyena noticed the Espeon on the other side of her father, but paid him little mind. Vivian was one of the strongest Pokémon she knew, though she would never admit it. She was a bit disappointed, however, that the mutant nearly lost her life over an evolutionary stone. It would have been a shame if after bullets and battles, she lost herself to water.
Brooke had drawn herself away from the group to hide under a tree and nap, but she'd been sleeping with one eye open. She heard the commotion and, noticing her daughter and Don, made her way over to them. ["What happened?"]

"[I'm okay,]" Vivian said, a little harshly, closing her eyes as Angelo licked her forehead. Her voice softened as she said again, "[I'm okay, Austin.]" This wasn't something that she was going to recover from with rest. She'd need a berry, or some medicine. It pissed her off... She couldn't believe that she let herself get tangled in seaweed. If it weren't for that vaporeon she really would be gone. She sat down and looked over her shoulder at the water, but the little blue -eon had not reappeared. Vivian was starting to wonder if she had seen her at all.
Austin's ears lowered at his mother's assurance. He wasn't sure how sincere she was, but it was something to hear her say that she'd be okay. Chance, seeing the nervousness in the younger male, took a step forward and tapped Austin on the shoulder with his tail. "[Cool it, Austin, you know Viv. She'll be fine, give her some air,]" he said, his tone a bit gentler than normal. He knew Vivian well enough to know that Austin flitting around nervously wouldn't help her feel any better, and maybe he could get Austin to calm down a bit if he reaffirmed what she was telling him anyway.
The Umbreon looked at him, and then at his mother, who gave him a reassuring nod. "[...Okay,]" he murmured, nodding slightly before turning and following Chance as he weaved his way through the crowd of assembled Pokémon and back toward their part of the beach.
It was one thing for one or two of the Pokémon to run at the sight of shampoo, but it was a little strange for all of them to go to the same place. "What's going on over there?" Note murmured. He gestured for Ellie to follow him as he headed over to the gathered Pokémon.

Ellie nodded and began to follow after the Pokémon, not being able to help the little itch of concern crawling through her skin. When she rounded the bend, there were her and Note's Pokémon, crowded around Vivian and Angelo. Both were wet, but Viv looked much more fazed than her Umbreon. "What the hell...?" She paused, hesitating before reaching around to grab her backpack which wasn't on her. Immediately she turned to Brooke, and lifted her finger towards the tree where her bag was. "Brooke, get my bag, please!"
The Mightyena turned around wordlessly and bounded off towards the direction her trainer had pointed her, taking the straps in her jaw and making her way back to the girl in long strides.
Ellie felt much more comfortable with her bag, but what did Vivian even need? She looked to Note with a frown.
Chris watched the interaction between the -eons with interest. She only knew Chance for being prick, and it was admittedly nice to see him being gentle with her best friend for once. She gave the two a look before averting her attention back to her mother and her trainer.

As Ellie had Brook retrieve her bag Note crouched in front of Vivian and looked her over. "[Hey, Viv, what do you need?]" he murmured, holding her chin in his hand. To his surprise, she rested the weight of her head into it. There didn't appear to be anything wrong with her except the fact that she looked like she had been through a battle. His teal-blue gaze shifted to the water behind her and then back on her. "[Did you go on too long a swim?]" he ventured, a playful smirk on his face. The Flumbreon growled lowly, and she took a half-hearted snap at his hand that he could easily avoid. The reaction told him what he needed to know. It was surprising; he had never known how much Vivian could take of the water, and he had started to think that she was just immune to it. But this proved that she actually didn't have gills.
"I think she just needs a berry, El," he concluded, looking over his shoulder at his girl. "She looks okay for the most part. Are you hurt, Viv? Can you walk?"
He stood and took a couple steps back, pushing Don, Chris, and Brook back a few steps as they made room for him. Vivian slowly got to her paws and took a half step away from Angelo to bare all of her own weight again. Her legs were shaking a little less now, and so she could walk to Note with a bit of effort. Her limp was a little more pronounced, but no more than it would be after rough battle. Note stroked her head and smoothed her bangs out of her face; they were still partially covering her eyes, and the motion was appreciated. She sat down where she was and looked expectantly at Ellie's direction. The sooner she could feel a little better and everyone could worry about something other than her, the better.

"Right..." The girl stuck her hand in her bag and began to fiddle around for her berry case. When she felt the smooth texture of the box, she pulled it out and opened it up. "Here," she said, plucking an Oran Berry from its home and passing it to Note, convinced that Vivian would take it from him without any hassle. The mutant Pokémon was much more tame than when they first met, but it was probably just better this way.
Chris backed up as Note ushered them off, furrowing her brows only momentarily. She rounded her way over to Austin, bumping his flank with her hip. ["Don't worry."]
Brooke glanced between the scene and the lake, twitching an ear. Coyly, the Mightyena turned her nose back towards her trainer, and glanced sideways at the father of her child. ["You do smell pretty awful, you know,"] she said lightly with the smallest hint of a smile, before she got to her paws and padded towards the water, easing her way in.

Note took the berry from her hand, his eyes remaining on his injured Pokémon, and as he knelt and offered it to her she took it and had it gone in two bites. As he stood he saw some of her energy return, and she did a full-body shake that soaked everything within a three-food radius in all decisions. Therefore, Note's pants were soaked. Fantastic.
Despite the fact that he had now experienced second-hand Vivian's swim, he smiled. "Try not to worry everyone next time you take a dive, okay, Viv?"
In response she huffed disinterestedly and took off at a slow trot back toward their part of the lake. Now that she didn't feel like she was about to fall over, she wanted to see if she could figure out whether she had saved herself, or that Vaporeon wasn't imagined...
She came to a stop at the edge of the dock, her eyes locked on the water, and there she laid down with her paws dangling over the edge. She combed the water in search of the vaporeon.
Don watched her go off before his attention was grabbed by his snarky little babymama. He cocked his head around to watch her wade into the water and raised a brow, unsure how to take the jeer. It certainly didn't seem malicious, but even if it wasn't he wasn't sure how to respond. Just because she said he stunk didn't mean he wanted to take a bath.
Situated near where they had been before everyone had been displaced, Austin smiled at his friend weakly. "[Yeah. I know. Nothing slows down Mom. Not for long.]" His green eyes followed his mother's form as she made her way from land to the dock, and he tilted his head to the side slightly, but said nothing.
Chance noted the same movement with less of a physical reaction. Once Vivian was still again his gaze shifted back to Chris, but he remained silent. He was content to stay still and quiet until necessity called for it. It would be a little easier not to seem like a bumbling idiot that way, and if he could keep his expression cool and nonchalant as it had been before Chris arrived, he would have no trouble.

Ellie watched the exchange between boy and Pokémon with a small simper before something glittery on the ground caught her attention. Curious, the girl bent over and took the object in her grasp, eyebrows shooting up when she realised it was a water stone. "Huh..." she grunted softly. Water stones were only supposed to spawn at the bottom of... She looked at Viv suddenly, and her shoulders slumped with a halfhearted giggle. "I guess they're right. Girls really can't resist shiny things."
Angelo laid back down on the grass, deciding to give Viv a little room now. He had gotten in his supportive kiss-and-cuddle combo, and that was all he could hope for. She had eaten the berry, she was alright now, but he wasn't too excited about her being so close to the water again.
Brooke looked back at the Fire Type, who stared at her incredulously. ["You're going to have to wash up one way or another,"] she said, turning her body towards him, still treading water. In a sudden movement, the Mightyena had sprung from the water and curled her forelegs over the shoulders of the Houndoom, pushing against the ground with her hindlegs and launching the two of them back towards the water.
Chris watched the antics of her parents with a resting bitch-face, unsure what the hell her mother was doing. The relationship between Brooke and Don was a confusing one, and she didn't bother analysing it much. Only a little bit embarrassed, but mostly not concerned with it, she look between the two -eons and back at Viv. ["Well, your mom's okay. So..."]

Note raised a brow as he turned his attention to what Ellie was looking at. He stared at the stone for a long minute before the comment clicked. "Did she really make it to the bottom of the lake...!? Holy shit!" He spared a glance at the water. "How deep is this lake?"
Don didn't even have time to react before he was flung into the water. He ended up upside-down and completely submerged before he could orient himself enough to get free of the playful Mightyena. In a leap that took him right over Brook's head he went slipping onto the shore again and spun around to face Brook. "[Are you trying to drown me!?]" he exclaimed, in a tone that sounded way more frightened than he had anticipated. The tone of his own voice immediately embarrassed him, and in an attempt to recover he narrowed his eyes to crimson slits. "[Unappreciated.]"
"[Yeah.... What's she looking at anyway?]" Austin asked, his eyes still on his mother. He leaned around Chris to see her, and finally he got to his paws and headed off without a word.
"[Austin-!]" Chance called half-heartedly after him, only to be completely ignored. He grimaced as the Umbreon trotted toward his mother, leaving him alone with Chris. This was not part of the plan. His gaze slowly turned to Chris, and he remained silent, unsure of what to say.

"Large enough to home Gyarados," she commented, impressed as she tossed the water stone between her hands. "So, your Fire Pokémon fetched a water stone for her Fire based trainer. At least she's relatively clean now, I guess."
["Jeez, Don, are you a dog or a cat?"] the Mightyena inquired with an eyeroll, crossing her forelegs and propping them on shore, her lower body still kicking beneath the surface. At his lame attempt to save face, she smiled. ["You really need Note and Ellie to coax you in? Come on, you baby. I'll keep all the Magikarp and big waves away."]
Chris shrugged, but it seemed to go unnoticed by her Umbreon companion. Instead, wordlessly, the Dark Type trotted off to join his mother. As inclined as she felt to follow him, she wasn't sure she wanted to linger around the grumpy Flumbreon, so she stay put and watched him off. However, that left her with Chance, and that situation was just as unappealing. She flashed him a glance as he called for Austin, but he was blatantly ignored. He then turned to her, and she flattened her ears. What was she supposed to do with this.

Don's eyes narrowed even further at his pseudo-mate. He sat down where he was stubbornly, determined not to be shamed into getting wet. It was uncomfortable at best, and life-threatening at worst, but he wasn't going to pitch a sob story to Brook. As long as she didn't try anything else, she didn't need to be explicitly told that he couldn't swim.
"Yeah," Note muttered in agreement, his attention shifting from the mutant to the now soaked firedog. "Donetello, we don't have time for this. Get in the damn lake."
The canine flinched at his voice-not so much over the tone, but just what he was being commanded to do. He glanced at his trainer with a look that fell somewhere between a glare and a pout, but then shuffled into the water until it came up to his elbows. Then thinking better of that, he came out a little more. Note sighed, peeled off his shirt, and waded in after him. He didn't enjoy the water any more than his Pokémon did, and was only a slightly better swimmer, so he was determined to make this pretty quick. Still, he glanced back at Elle to make sure she hadn't gone far. She was, to some degree, aware of his inability to swim, and he just wanted hey nearby in case of some kind if freak accident. She also had the shampoo.
Conceding to the fact that they could not stay in silence forever, Chance turned to look shamelessly at Chris in all her post-evolved glory. For a brief moment, he even allowed himself to oggle. "[You're going to come back to the ranch strutting around like you're hot stuff, aren't you?]" he said at last. It felt very satisfying to come up with something that didn't feel awkward and forced. A good old-fashioned jeer. That was the stuff

["Ooooh,"] the Mightyena flinched, as if inflicted with pain as Don was forced into the water, toothy smile still ever present on her silvery muzzle. She pushed away from the shore and did a small lap in the water before she noticed Ellie wading in herself, swimming back.
Contrary to belief, the Dark Type quite liked water. She had no reason to dislike it. She had been the one to teach Chris how to swim, even though her daughter, like Donatello, had a type disadvantage. The hybrid now didn't necessarily love water, but she would never have to worry about her drowning in a puddle.
Eleanor began to lather the canine's thick fur in shampoo, glancing between Brooke and the water. "...I hope the Pokémon living here don't mind too much. This shampoo is pretty good... nothing harmful in it." She looked over at Note and passed him the shampoo, her body tense and alert in case the blond lost his footing and slipped in.
Chris furrowed her brow at the Espeon's comment, before catching his roaming eyes. She narrowed hers, in turn, and got to her paws. ["So what if I do?"] The look he had given her wasn't endearing, but it wasn't disgusted either. Chris was mostly used to puzzled looks from other Pokémon and other trainers, wondering what the hell she was and how she wound up that way. Then there were those who thought she was an abomination and made no effort of hiding it. Then there was her mother, and her friends. Chance's ogling fell into none of those categories.

As soon as the soap came off Don turned tail and leapt toward dry land again. As he did he managed to bump Note hard enough that his leg went our from under him, and he fell face-first into the thigh-high water. After a moment of clumsy floundering he managed to sit up, soaked and spitting water.
Don turned around the moment he realized what he had done, and fretful as a worried mother, he grabbed Note's arm and dragged him out of the water like a pup. Note came to a stop on the rocky beach and glared at the canine, who looked back at him apologetically.
Chance smirked. "[You don't look that good,]" he lied. It was, he figured, sound advice to discourage showboating. Pokémon got tired of that pretty fast; he had learned that from experience. Besides, not everyone needed to be looking at her anyway... He very Chris didn't want a butch of dicks chafing after her. He didn't.

The Dark Type shook out her fur once she was free of soap and on land, peeking through her wet bangs as she heard another splash. Note thrashed in the water, her trainer turning immediately and gently grabbing his shoulder, but the Houndoom took hold of his arm and pulled him out before the girl could put in a real ounce of effort. ["Nice one,"] Brooke barked flatly, sitting down and itching her ear with her paw.
Chris kept her gaze steely, but her heart sank. She had just been excited that she could even evolve. A while back, she had eavesdropped on some of the older Pokémon in the ranch as they contemplated the young hybrid's evolving and breeding capabilities. Now she had evolved, yes, but she was still a mutant, only taller and leaner, with slightly longer horns. ["Whatever,"] she grunted, turning away from him and taking a few steps towards the water and crouching down to drink.

Don masked his embarassment with a glare. "[Pardon my type disadvantage,]" he growled tersely. He never did have any good self control around water. It just unnerved him. There were too many bad memories linked to it, and he felt truly awful about knocking his trainer down. He was sure that it wasn't any easier for Note.
And the blond was truly still smarting about his fall. The young man's lean white hand closed around the Houndoom's horn like a trap and tugged him an inch closer to his face, producing a surprised grunt from Donetello. "Go get Chance," he commanded, covering his eyes with his other hand as he slicked water off his face. With that he released the canine, and Don obediently set off around the lake to find the lanky Espeon.
Chance frowned as Chris turned away. He was expecting a snarky comeback, not to actually hurt her feelings. He had pushed the envelope before, but he thought he knew how far was too far. "[Chris,]" he growled, hopping up to follow her.
He was cut off only a few steps into his pursuit by his target's glistening father. Though he could not tell if the Houndoom's hard gaze was directed at him, or at some other event that was on his mind, Chance stepped back all the same. Donetello gave a nod to the spot where the two humans were still loitering and muttered, "[Bath time.]" Chance turned without hesitation and went where he was desired. The three- second encounter made his tail twitch. When did he start walking on eggshells around Don?

["You're forgiven,"] the Mightyena responded with a smile, casting him one last glance before Note took hold of the Houndoom. Brooke trotted out towards the tree she'd been napping by before her bath, watching through her peripheral vision as her babydaddy ran to follow orders. What a pansy.
Chris straightened herself out and looked back when she noticed her father giving Chance an order. A moment later, the Espeon was scurrying away, and it was just her and Don. That was a nice change. ["Hey, Dad,"] she greeted, turning away from the water, looking at the adult Pokémon expectantly.
Ellie shook her head and ran her fingers through his light hair. "Maybe you should get a bath too, hmm?" she simpered, placing her hands on his abs. She took a step back as his Espeon appeared, giving her a chance to shamelessly check out her wet, wimpy man. The girl bit her lip and began to fan her face exaggeratedly to try and lighten the mood.
