Charlie's freckled nose wrinkled in dissatisfaction. "Okay," she muttered, unzipping her hoodie and tossing it aside. She tossed her hat on top of it and sat down to pull off her socks. "How long do you think it'd take this stuff to dry?" she mused.

"You're thinking of swimming with your clothes on?" he asked aloud, though quickly shook his head as if to clear himself. "Not to sound... weird, but I probably wouldn't want to get those wet. Unless you want to be heavy from the water when those thugs round the bend," he warned, going back under water and beginning to scrub himself with his hands to try to get the dirt off.

"I wasn't..." She trailed off as he disappeared underwater and rolled her eyes. Max wasn't a bad guy, but he didn't seem to give her a lot of credit. Sure, he was the one with the map, and the Pokémon, and any idea where they were going... but she wasn't stupid enough to swim in her clothes.
She stood up, shuffled out of her baggy pants, and then pulled off her t-shirt and threw them into the pile with her hoodie and hat, leaving her in pink boyshort underwear and a polda-dot bra.

After cleaning his forearms, Max decided it was a good time to refill his lungs. He kicked with his legs until he resurfaced, rubbing his eyes to clear the salty water from his eyelids. The boy popped up with his back facing the docks somehow and turned around to see where Charlie had gone. What he saw was... definitely not what he was expecting. His jaw literally dropped and he couldn't help as his eyes roamed the physique of a person he'd figured was a guy only seconds ago. Shutting his jaw, he silently descended into the water, eyebrows raised and eyes glued onto Charlie.

Without sparing a glance at her companion Charlie crouched and did a summersault, sinking like a stone. She shook her hair out and ran her fingers through it, only to cringe a moment later when the sting of the salt water reached the claw marks on her head. She came up smoothing her hair back and blinked the salt water out of her eyes.

The waves of her splash passed through Max. Knowing that Charlie, the girl was down in the water, he shot up to get a chance to really breathe. He reflected on everything he'd said or done to or around her and once he had his upper torso around the boardwalk, purposefully smacked his head on the wood. This wouldn't change anything. It was still the annoying auburn-haired kid who'd been following him since yesterday. Except she had boobs. Not big ones, but there were still boobs. And a lack of a penis. He crawled out of the water, instead sitting on the edge of the dock, toes still in the ocean.

Charlie sank underwater again to scrub her arms and torso, and then came up again to see that Max had climbed onto the dock. She looked at him, puzzled. He couldn't be done already, could he? He looked like he was actually enjoying the water... and the stunned look on his face...
"What?" she said, looking at him strangely. She looked down, thinking for one horrifying moment that maybe something important had shifted when she came into the water. But no... so she wasn't sure why he was staring. Was he really that embarrassed? It wasn't even like her underwear was that revealing.

Max avoiding looking into her eyes, kind of ashamed and self deducting bro points for not realizing she was a girl after spending an entire day in her company, and hers alone. Penny and Codie didn't count. "Nothing, I just... wanted to sit," he half-lied, shrugging.

She looked at him, puzzled, and tilted her head to the side just the slightest bit. As she did she couldn't happen but notice his physique... which was nothing she wouldn't look twice at. Before she could embarrass herself and give away her blush she sunk underwater again and scrubbed herself the best she could. Then she swam back to the grass, pulled herself out, and wrung out her hair. It wasn't perfect, but she certainly did feel cleaner.

When Charlie got out, he ducked under the water for just one more dip made sure he'd cleaned everything that mattered. Once that was done, he hauled himself out of the water, shook out his head like a dog would it's coat, and walked back towards the clothes pile. He sneaked a glance at her as she emptied her hair of water and began to slip back on his clothes. He didn't like how his boxers were wet and sticking to his body so he turned his back to put on his pants.

Charlie turned her back to him as she slicked the water off her arms and legs. She spared a glance at him over her shoulder as she grabbed her pants. Even his back was toned... She turned away and pulled on her pants and t-shirt. She grimaced as she watched her soaked bra slowly fade into sight under her pale t-shirt. The blue polka-dots were clearly visible against the cream-pink background that the wet shirt created.
The heat was almost tempting enough to leave her hoodie off anyway. It would dry, quickly, and no one would see it except Max, right? And her bra wasn't a secret to him anymore... She stood there, deliberating.

After his pants were on, belt was buckled, and his white shirt was see-through and sticking to his torso, he began to peel off the wet bandage. He felt bad that it was almost basically a waste of their supplies, but it wouldn't be much help to his cut just drooping off his arm like that. An elbow was a difficult place to bandage in the first place with how much and how drastically it was moved all the time.
I should have just asked what Charlie was short for, he inwardly face palmed as he slowly began to approach Charlie again with bandages from his backpack in his hand. "Hey, um..." he began, casting his gaze to the side.

She looked over his shoulder at him; her back was still turned. "Yeah?" she asked, grabbing her hoodie and tying the sleeves around her shoulders. She looked down to see if that would cover up the wet marks. It did, mostly. The shirt would be dry pretty soon in this heat anyway. Close enough.

Max cleared his throat. "Could you, uh, help with this... again?" he asked in a choppy kind of way, his voice seeming smaller than before. He inwardly kicked himself. He was pretty sure it was mostly shock that was making him so different. It was like meeting another person; it was something Max was naturally, never any good at. Codie had been his only friend as a child. His mother was his closest thing to a best friend.

Charlie turned to face him and frowned, puzzled. "Is it still bleeding?" she asked, turning his arm slightly to see the cut.
